Roberto Mancini has stayed out of the spotlight since he departed Inter this summer. The former nerazzurri manager has recently been linked with Leicester City following Claudio Ranieri’s sacking. Today Mancini spoke to Radio Deejay about the current situation:

Is it true that you rejected Leicester? What do you think about Ranieri’s sacking?

“That is not true. I did not speak to anyone. It seems as if the English have gained some of our Italian qualities. After what Ranieri did last season it was a controversial decision despite the team’s struggles. Last year they performed a miracle, but this season everything has gone wrong and they also lost a key player in Kante.”

Has Inter’s poor season redeemed your sacking? How did everything pan out?

“I left in August because the conditions to continue were simply not there. The coach must be able to assert himself once the season begins. The Chinese ownership offered me new 3 year contract and everything was ready, but I refused it.”
