Javier Zanetti has shed light on Marcelo Brozovic‘s exclusion from Inter’s squad for Sunday’s Derby D’Italia. Many reasons as to why he was dropped circulated but Zanetti has given the definitive reason on Rai TV: “He was unhappy with his substitution in the Europa League and wanted to leave the stadium, It was a gesture that prompted the Croatian exclusion from the Derby d’Italia. There are very specific rules in place. First of all, the club must always be respected. Then there’s the respect of one’s teammates. If he wants to continue to build what we’re doing with us then he’ll always find open doors with us, but it depends on him.”

The vice-president then moved on to speak about Mauro Icardi: “His start to the season has been very important, He is our captain and knows the responsibility that it entails, and he’s proving that he understands what it represents. For this, we rejected many offers for him in the summer. He wants to do great things with this group.”
