This morning Roberto Mancini attended the ‘Football for Unicef’ event in Rome. While supporting this great initiative, Mancini was asked about his time at Inter once again. The former Inter coach spoke about his final months as Inter manager:

Do you regret not renewing with Inter now that Suning have made great promises?

“I do not because I left for more significant issues. I felt bad to throw away the year and a half of hard work in which I helped improve the team. We were able to build a certain type of mentality. Results were on their way.”

Was it Thohir’s fault?

“No, no…When there is a presidential change these things can happen. There was a point in time in which I wanted to strengthen the team and nobody did anything. We waited for weeks upon weeks. It was a difficult situation because we lost valuable time, and in football you need to do things quickly.”

Did Suning actually propose a new contract offer to you?

“Yes. They had a three year contract planned. Although I did not know them too well, I knew that we could not carry on together.”
