Former Inter manager Gigi Simoni spoke about the sacking made by the club on Stefano Pioli stating that firing managers are something that they have become accustomed to in an interview with at 4-4-2 on Sportmediaset.it.

“Pioli sacking correct? It’s difficult to judge from the outside,” Simoni stated. “But it was one thing that surprised me. Inter have a little habit of sending away coaches, as they did with me” referring to when he coached Inter, taking over ahead of the 1997/1998 season.

“Who would I appoint as Inter’s next coach? There are two coaches who I would keep in mind: Diego Simeone and Antonio Conte. Both are very good but Conte is perhaps not as popular with the fans, unlike El Cholo.”

He also spoke about Luciano Spalletti and what he thinks the current Roma tactician can bring to the Nerazzurri. “He is another good coach,”Simoni stated. “Temperamentally I know him well, we’re old friends but Inter is a team that has no peace of mind, everything is always a surprise and Spalletti is not a very ‘quiet’ coach. I do not know if the current Inter environment is right for him.”
