Manchester United are seriously interested in Ivan Perišić, and have prepared an offer of €60 million for the Croatian.

The 28-year-old is deemed unsellable by Suning, but it seems this has not dissuaded José Mourinho from launching another attempt to lure him to England.

The Portuguese coach has made it clear to his board of directors that further investment is required this summer if the Red Devils are to compete for the Premier League title next season and, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, one of his main priorities is to sign the former Wolfsburg winger.

Chelsea also remain interested in Perišić, and so Suning are waiting to see if a bidding war will develop between the two clubs. It is clear that he would only be allowed to leave if Inter have a suitable replacement lined up.

Sporting director Piero Ausilio is well prepared in this regard, as he has already identified Domenico Berardi of Sassuolo and Fiorentina’s Federico Bernardeschi as prime candidates to arrive regardless of whether Perišić remains or not. Should he depart, the Nerazzurri are willing to spend €70 million in order to bring them both to San Siro.

Meanwhile, Dries Mertens remains a possible alternative given he is yet to renew his contract with Napoli, which expires in June 2018.
