In an interview with Corriere della Sera, inter great Sandro Mazzola today recalled the spell under magician Helenio Herrera and put an end to the remarks made by his brother on Grande Inter:
“It is true that he used to give us pills which we used to swallow. It didn’t make any differences. In modern football too you will find players taking those. Ferruccio (Sandro’s brother) had his reasons to say those harsh words. Before his death we broke the ice and talked about it. The real doping which the Argentine magician used was totally psychological. He would tell us different things before every match. Before the 65′ European Cup he convinced us that Eusebio was weak. Though in reality he was stronger than Cruijff.”
