Davide Santon spoke on Inter Channel show “Double Coffee” on his debut season in 2009: “In January some offers arrived for me, I was about to accept because I had little space and maybe I could take the opportunity to grow elsewhere. Then came the match in Bergamo when Inter lost 3-1, a week before I played left-back with the Primavera, a role that I had never covered. But in the end I told myself that it was important to play and learn new roles. A few days later, I found myself on the pitch against Roma in the Coppa Italia as a starter under Mourinho. From there on wards I played them all. That year was memorable because I was called up to the Under 21 and then by Marcello Lippi in the senior team. The year of the treble was equally memorable, but after I alternated with Cristian Chivu I had knee surgery and I missed the rest of the season. But I have always felt part of a group, also playing in the group stage of Champions League. The three titles, then the Club World Cup was the icing on the cake.”
