Javier Zanetti spoke with Quotidiano Sportivo on Mauro Icardi and his new role at FIFA: “For a long time he has been doing good things and deserves an opportunity for the national team. He’s a great professional and Inter has grown a lot, he is our captain and is well respected. For me the he will be summoned shortly and will do well, he has a great future. He knows that what he does in the field is what takes to be called, he is waiting and I have no doubt that sooner or later the call will come. Hopefully he will also help at the next World Cup.”
On his new role in FIFA: “I received an assignment from FIFA, I am very happy about that. I will continue to work for Inter, but I will go to Zurich for various meetings. For me it is important to represent Argentina. For twenty years I have lived in Italy, I have three Italian children, but I want to contribute to the good of Argentine football at this difficult time. In our country, unfortunately, the situation is complicated, I do not know what will happen but it is time to reach an agreement.”
