Prior to Inter-Southampton tomorrow, Frank de Boer held his press conference at 1pm local time at Appiano Gentile.
How do yo escape this difficult moment? “When you don’t manage to bring home wins, it’s always difficult, because the team wants to win. The results against Roma and Cagliari were disappointing, but we have to improve because the last defeat we threw away. We have proven to be a good team but we have to get better. We all now that something’s gotta change, in football you don’t have a lot of time and we have to improve fast.”
What makes you most furious, the attitude of the team or something else? “We’ve talked about it, which is normal after a game. Each game is a story of it’s own, we know that we have to improve and that we have to learn from the errors committed.”
Are you getting worried about being sacked? Don’t you think this team has to play more viciously in order to win games you’re not playing well in? “We know that the results are not good, but we are at the beginning of a project. I feel like you do when you’re competing in Formula 1, you have to hurry to improve in a short space of time. We’ve played very good matches and ended them with negative results, but I have a lot of confidence in this team and I see that it is growing. I know that the results are negative but I think it’s just a matter of time. It is normal when starting a project. The hierarchy is well aware of that, and I have faith in this team, always knowing that you need to improve in certain aspects.”
How long do I need to reverse the trend of negative results?
“Hard to say, two weeks, four … It depends on how long the team will need to learn, but time remains. I repeat, as in Formula One you can run when the car is in place in all, it is normal. the technical staff has to know the team and the team has to know the coaching staff.”
In recent days days much has been said of the Icardi case, what do you expect from Icardi and what atmosphere do you think you’ll find in the San Siro tomorrow night?
“This situation is not good for the team, for the fans and for the company. In the future we must avoid similar situations, as they lead to distractions for everyone on the game and influence. Everyone must learn how to avoid a repeat in the future, not only Icardi. For me it is very important that players and coaching staff remain focused on the match. Similarly Icardi must treasure what happened, because he has responsibilities as captain. I think he understood the need to be a good example for the team and the fans. ”
The crazy people seem to question it after only two months?
“I have said many times that a coach of a big club like Inter, Ajax or Barcelona always has so much pressure on them when there are no results. But I think you’re doing a good job for my team, the only thing I can do is work hard. I have confidence in myself and in my coaching staff, but also in the society and in the team. it’s a matter of time, when you do not win after 4-5 years a title to question the coach.”
Brozovic is ready?

Did you expect that coaching Inter would mean that you would have to take into account several factors off the pitch as well?Why did you want Leo Echteld?
“It’s no problem for me to learn new things, a team with 28 players may lead to some off field situations. In the field there are eleven players, it is difficult. We have so many players with great quality and would always like to play. I have to learn from these situations, but they are always honest with everyone. the physical state of my players is important for me, when a player is playing very well for me. Echteld has a lot of experience, I have worked with him in Holland and is doing good things even here. he is a specialist and I trust him, help Inter to improve. it ‘always in touch with me. ”
Do you believe that this team lacks a midfielder who can fit into the area to help Icardi? Identified players that do not fit in the project and could leave in January?
