Victor Lindelöf is not the only name on Piero Ausilio’s list of potential defensive reinforcements – far from it. Calciomercato.com has revealed that Swiss international Fabian Schär’s name is back on the agenda.

Their report states, “The number one alternative to Lindelöf is Hoffenheim central defender Fabian Schär.” The 24-year-old had previously been close to signing for Inter when he left Basel, before eventually opting to move to Germany.

After an inconsistent start to life in the Bundesliga, he has cemented his place as a key man in Julian Nagelsmann’s steadily improving side. Inter scouts have followed his performances during the international break, when he faced both Hungary and Andorra against whom he scored a penalty in a 2-1 victory.
