January signing Eder spoke with Gazzetta dello Sport about the upcoming season amongst other topics: “I kept myself in check even while I was in holiday, and last week I started training at home. I left nothing to chance, I want to be ready. Don’t forget that last year I joined Inter in their most difficult moment. Yet I remained calm even over those weeks. Nothing was wasted, for the good and for the bad. Now we all start again from zero, our slates clean. I was happy with my performances, even though with Sampdoria I was scoring loads. But a striker does more than just scoring. I learnt a lot over that period and from Mancini.”

He then went on to speak about interest in him that came over the summer, particularly from the Chinese Super League: “I read of this interest too, but I never thought about it. In truth, I even received two-three offers from top clubs but I wanted to remain with Inter, because I feel important for the current project. Besides, in a great team you must be able to draw strength from the competition between players.”

The naturalised Italian concluded saying, “I’m aware that Inter’s attacking roster is very strong, and the coach has his own ideas. De Boer will make his decisions and I’m aware that I won’t be able to play every game.”
