Domenico Berardi’s future is currently up in the air. The Sassuolo attacker is being heavily linked with a move to Inter, but the Neroverdi want to keep their star man. Today Sassuolo’s sporting director Giovanni Carnevali spoke to Il Corriere Dello Sport about Berardi’s future:

“Berardi will stay at Sassuolo. We decided this with the player. Other parties can do nothing. I am shocked by all of the rumors that are disturbing our club.”

“We have an excellent relationship with Inter, and I am saying this because people say that we never do deals together. They have not spoken to Berardi’s agent out of respect for us, because they know that they would have to consult us first. I can confirm Inter’s interest in Berardi, but asking about a player’s situation is far different from actually making a bid. Berardi is not for sale now, and we decided this 20 days ago.”

“Berardi told us that he wanted to stay at Sassuolo. He never rejected Juventus, he simply expressed a desire to stay. He likes the prospect of playing in Europe, and the coach has helped him a lot. We lost out on 25 million euros to keep him. In a year we will evaluate Berardi’s future. He will have multiple suitors in addition to Juventus. Juve cannot speak on behalf of Domenico, and we will evaluate the player generally.”
