toldo julio cesar

In 2005 he ‘stole’ the place of the starting goalkeeper at Inter and he never gave it back. That way the history of Inter probably changed. From being a bench warmer at Chievo Verona, Julio Cesar replaced Francesco Toldo at Inter, coached by Roberto Mancini at the time, and relegated one of Italy’s best goalkeepers to the bench. Today, Toldo was interviewed by A Bola and the former vice-champion of the European Championship spoke of his friend who now plays for Benfica at 36 years of age and complimented him: “We love each other, the great respect between us has always prevailed. Inter was lucky to have us both during the same period. Julio is a great guy, a very serious professional who works with great enthusiasm. He deserves trust, he is a great goalkeeper. Great with his feet, very fast at getting the ball back into play, has has a very short reaction time between the poles.”

According to Toldo, the former colleague is far from retiring: “A goalkeeper who knows how to take care of himself and heal from physical problems is still at the top at 36 years of age. He is that and to me he is still young.”
