Earlier today, Mauro Icardi was interviewed by Marco Barzaghi from SportMediaset. The striker admitted that the non-celebration against Palermo was a pre-game decision taken together with his agent Abian Morano, without elaborating further on the reason behind the decision: “Against Palermo I didn’t celebrate because my agent and I decided that I shouldn’t, and that’s how it went. We’ll see what happens in the next few games”, Maurito explained. Icardi also spoke of the many goals he has scored in the black and blue shirt: : “Scoring goals is what feeds the team. I want to take Inter as far as possible. I honestly didn’t think I would score so often when I first came to Italy, I thought I would score once in a while”.

Instead the goal scoring opportunites given to you have been taken advantage of greatly, do you still believe that you can score 20 goals this season?

“If the team plays well, and we perform well in attack, and not just me but the players around me as well”.

About the new-born Francesca:

“She doesn’t let me sleep, but during our resting day I could relax. Now all my goals are dedicated to her”.

The interview continued with Sky’s Silvia Vallini asking the questions, beginning with the now buried conflict with the Curva Nord after the game against Sassuolo: “Those things happen, but in that moment we were all very angry, it was a real clash. We have spoken in private together with my agent. Now we will see what happens in the next few games. Was it wrong of me to not celebrate? If Mancini says so then he is right, as he definitely has proven that he knows how to score goals. I remember him from the years at Sampdoria and when you see him coach the strikers in training you understand what kind of qualities he possessed.

Regarding the contract renewal: “We often talk to Ausilio, the negotiations are going well, we are at an advanced stage from what my agent tells me. I do whatever he tells me, if he tells me to sign a contract I will and otherwise I just keep on playing. If Mourinho calls me? I think he would call Ausilio and not me, that’s how those things usually work”, Icardi added with a laugh. About the team: “We need to be more cynical, everyone of us needs to participate in the defensive phase. Mancini wants me to particiate more in the build-up and help my team mates to score aswell. We want the Europa League and we believe in ourselves, unfortunately the third place is still far away”. The Argentinian bomber finished the interview with talking about baby Francesca: “She has changed my life and the lives of everyone in my family, even though I already had some experience of the father role”.
