Fredy Guarin talked to TuttoSport about his time with Inter till now, here are his words:

“I Stayed at Inter because of the fans, their protests convinced me, I found myself at a crossroads, and it was a difficult time for me and my family. It’s not normal to experience such strong emotions, even for a footballer, but in the end it worked out as I wanted to stay at Inter and feel important and now I’m only thinking about Inter.”

“It’s been a while since then, and I can say calmly I made an important decision and I sleep well at night because of that decision, I’m not sorry about not having gone to Juventus, simply because I never wanted to leave Inter, I was sitting across the table from Thohir and Mazzarri, I was asked what I wanted to do, and I told the truth about what I was thinking over what happened.”

“The final decision wasn’t only up to me, but when Thohir sat in front of me and asked me what I wanted to do I replied without hesitation that I wanted to stay at Inter, It was an experience that made me stronger, I learned to make important decisions, and I now understand certain dynamics of Italian football by having experienced them first hand, the final decision about whether to keep me was made by the President. Thohir knows how much I can give to the squad as a player and a person.”

“To qualify for the Champions League, we have to play right until the end. It’s a fixed goal for the team, almost an obsession, though we know it won’t be easy, the Europa League is very important. For example, at Porto we got it into our heads that we had to win that trophy, no matter what happened in the League and in the end we won everything.”

“Even in Portugal the League was more important, but everyone was focused on it at Porto and regardless of who we played the level of competition was always very high. Then when you get to the latter stages of the Europa League, feel the atmosphere at the club and see the Cup you realise how important what you did was.”

“Inter must start to win, it doesn’t matter if it’s the League or a Cup, one we start we won’t stop.”
