Roberto Mancini was interviewed by Sky after the game against Lazio and had the following things to say:

“Lennon? We have never talked about him and he isn’t a part of our mercato. There’ll be other players if we can manage to get to them.”

The coach continued the interview and talked about the game:

“The first half formation could be a good solution for us but letting an early goal in changed the plans. We had difficulties against a team that is good at counter attacking, but the formation doesn’t change much. In the second half the team reacted but I don’t think that was due to the formation. The individual errors? Unfortunately we suffered from them. But we never thought that in one month we’d become like Barcelona or Bayern.”

Do some players suffer at the San Siro?

“Some could have problems, but that needs to change. We hope that we can do better in the coming games.”

What about Icardi and Dodo’s performances?

“I will talk with them myself, not on television. Though I want to repeat that letting goals in like this made us suffer a lot. If we look at the goals we let in, you understand that there isn’t a tactical problem. We just need to improve in many areas.”

Could the mercato help?

“The team needs to work to improve even without signings. If we are lucky enough to get new players in the roles that we are missing it would be positive.”

Kovacic?

“He is doing better and has great qualities. But that is not thanks to me, he is improving day after day.”
