Diego Milito spoke to Inter Channel over the phone today where they conducted an interview with the Racing captain who just led his team to the title after 13 years. Here is what he said about what it meant to finally lift that trophy with Racing Avellaneda:

”I’m delighted for the fans. We hadn’t won the league for 13 years so we were very happy. We’ve had an incredible season and won six straight games in the end so we are overjoyed.”

The title win means that Milito and Racing are qualified for the Copa Libertadores in which Milito hopes they will do well. He then told the Inter Channel hosts that he is receiving countless messages from Inter fans congratulating him for the victory.

“I’d like to thank all the Inter fans for all the warmth they have shown me, I have got so much love for them. I thank them because they continue to support me even now. “

Milito then says he will never forget everything he won at Inter and how he will always be grateful to the club and the fans. And the fans have a special ally with them:

“I’m happy that things are looking up for them (Inter) and I will always be an interista at heart.”
