He said: “For me he was like a father during my four years as a coach and a player. He was a gentleman. Italian football has lost a man from an older era. If he left then he must have had reasons even though the choice was painful. He had thought of me as a new coach? I am the coach of Sampdoria and I only think of tomorrow’s match.”
