Just before the kick-off of Inter-Napoli, Nerazzurri president Erick Thohir spoke to Sky Sport Italia on this evening’s match:

“Every game is important. You remember last year when we played at home against Lazio and the captain retired. We won. It was also important because we qualified for the Europa League, and it had been a while. Today is another game, the seventh. There’s a long way to go and it’s early in the season. The difference between today and our previous games is that this one is between two big clubs. Inter have a great history and Napoli are an up and coming team over the last two or three years. So I think it’s a big match.”

The president responded to a question on Walter Mazzarri: “We have a contract with him for two years. We have to honour that, but of course we’re going game by game. Last year we set a target of qualifying for the Europa League, which we reached. This season we want to qualify for the competition again. I believe in the project, the team and the coach.”

Then a few statements on the visit he paid to the team yesterday: “I went to the Pinetina and met with the players and coach. We discussed the fact that we’re Inter and we have to be strong and fight hard in every game. I think it’s important to show the fans that we’re Inter and not just any team.”
