Piero Ausilio found time to speak to Sky Sport Italia before the Inter-Napoli clash. “The team and the fans have to be united. The fans have always been there for the squad. It’s very early in the season and there is a lot of football still to play, so we’ll take stock in May,” began Ausilio.

“Will I speak to Mazzarri? Of course; we’ve invested in our coach and in the entire coaching staff. We are totally convinced that we’re building a team with a winning mentality, and I’m sure that our current squad can do great things. We want to aim high and start a new cycle, but we do need to have a bit of patience. I have great faith in this team and I’m sure that they’ll prove me right,” he continued.

“We believe that our attacking players give us more than enough cover for the upcoming matches. Osvaldo’s problem could’ve happened to anybody and we’ve dealt with it. The January transfer window? We’ll look at that further down the road, in December. We have many big matches ahead of us so it’s too early to start thinking about that,” said Ausilio.

“We’re very pleased with our young players. It’s not just Bonazzoli; we also have Puscas, for example, and we’re sure that they have a big future ahead of them here,” he confirmed.

“I consider the Cagliari defeat to be a mere blip along our journey. Fiorentina surprised us; there was nothing wrong with our attitude there. We were trying to take control and play good football. After the first goal, our fragilities and weaknesses came out. That type of thing can happen during a match, but it can be overcome and I’m sure it won’t happen again,” concluded the Nerazzurri sporting director.
