In an exclusiveIcardi_Bologna interview with Corriere dello Sport, the Inter striker Mauro Icardi spoke of an Inter that is emerging and the objectives of this season, personally and for the team, not to mention his private life and the Argentine national team.

INTER AND OBJECTIVES – “The president is doing a good job and I was very pleased that he called me ‘killer.’ We’re not the team that won it all in the past years because we started from scratch, starting from a young base and we will look at the results only at the end of the year. There will be one competition more in which we measure and manage the energies well and we will aim to build a united team. The Champions League? I would be very happy to win it. I don’t want to answer how many goals I’ll score, even if they always ask me. However, I do hope this will be my season.”

WALTER MAZZARRI – “He works very tactically, but he is also a hammer with regard to the physical part. He wants us to be first on the ball.”

THE RIVALS – “The Italian league is not like Spain where they only 2-3 teams battle it out. In Serie A you never know what can happen. Then Inter is always… Inter.”

LAST SEASON – “Rated 7 for me? Even less, I was out quite a lot because of the groin, although now I’m trying to overcome it. In January I managed to get back with the team and I did what a striker needs to do.”

CELEBRATION – “I celebrated by bringing my hands to my ears after the first goal in the derby against Genoa which we won 3-1. I wanted to hear the fans go into ecstasy.”

THE TRANSFER MARKET AND RENEWAL – “Why should I leave Inter? I’m doing great here and I want to do well with this shirt. In Argentina I always kept the phone off and didn’t read the papers never thought of leaving. The contract? My agent (Abian Moreno, ed.) handles that. I haven’t spoken with Ausilio or any other directors: I focus on the pitch and on my life. Then If my agent calls me and tells me to go to sign, I will go…”

ERIK LAMELA – “We played together in the youth teams, and also in the senior national team. He’s playing on the side and is a Messi, looking for a goal starting from a distance. He didn’t even know about the interest from Inter, but he is really strong.”

GARY MEDEL – “I know him well, he’s one that always manages to make himself felt in the middle. They call him Pitbull. I like him a lot in terms of temperament which helps with pressure and recovers the balls. He would be a major purchase.”

OPPOSING FORWARDS – “Klose is very strong, but Totti is a champion.”

WANDA NARA AND MAXI LOPEZ – “Marriage is what I wanted with the woman I wanted. With Maxi Lopez there is no relationship. When we must, he sees children. Stop. Clarifications? I don’t need any.”

SOCIAL NETWORKS – “If I want to put a picture on Twitter and I do that, to me it has never been a problem.”

ARGENTINA AND THE WORLD CUP – “Like all the Argentines I wanted to win the cup, but Germany has earned the title. I in the new team? I’d love to. As I have always said, I chose Argentina because I’d like to do something great for my nation.”

THE DREAM – “A great career at Inter. I want to win with this shirt and I’m convinced that I will succeed.”
