Marko Livaja was interviewed in Croatia by Sportske Novotski. The 19 year old striker, in co-ownership between Inter and Atalanta talked about his season in Bergamo: “I started well, I was a starting player in a different system but we have immediately got two negative results, so we switched to 4-4-2. Denis is the captain and remains in the starting eleven, I, instead, often was put on the bench. There are a few games left of the season, I’m convinced I can still show my qualities.”

Last Saturday, the quarrel with the fans Bergamo, a few months ago there was the episode in Udine: “That time I decided not to warm up in the 78th minute. In January I wanted to leave Atalanta, but I wasn’t given permission. They said I was too important to the team, only to keep me on the bench and send me to warm up in the 78th minute. Why am I so important in the 78th minute? But in football it is normal that these things happen. I get paid, we are professionals and I admit I was wrong.”

And to those who have already labeled him a ‘bad boy’, Livaja replies: “Many of the things that come out in the press are not true. But I don’t want to make excuses. Anyone who knows me knows that the truth is not what is written. There is always another side. Now I hope that the club will not suspend me, but with me you never know (laughs). Whether it is a question of mentality? You can say that it is the mentality of Split. I left Hajduk at 16 and a half years, it is too early for anyone. But I had to leave, it was a smart move because my contract expired and no one had contacted me yet.”

The future remains unknown, but the doors remain open for Inter: “In Milan there is a lot of competition. President Erick Thohir has announced major investments, will undoubtedly bring in great players. It will be hard to earn a place at Inter. I have a two-year contract, who can say that a good end to the season won’t bring me back to Inter.”
