Marko Livaja was interviewed in Croatia by Sportske Novotski. The 19 year old striker, in co-ownership between Inter and Atalanta talked about his season in Bergamo: “I started well, I was a starting player in a different system but we have immediately got two negative results, so we switched to 4-4-2. Denis is the captain and remains in the starting eleven, I, instead, often was put on the bench. There are a few games left of the season, I’m convinced I can still show my qualities.”
Last Saturday, the quarrel with the fans Bergamo, a few months ago there was the episode in Udine: “That time I decided not to warm up in the 78th minute. In January I wanted to leave Atalanta, but I wasn’t given permission. They said I was too important to the team, only to keep me on the bench and send me to warm up in the 78th minute. And to those who have already labeled him a ‘bad boy’, Livaja replies: “Many of the things that come out in the press are not true. But I don’t want to make excuses. Anyone who knows me knows that the truth is not what is written. There is always another side. Now I hope that the club will not suspend me, but with me you never know (laughs). Whether it is a question of mentality? You can say that it is the mentality of Split. I left Hajduk at 16 and a half years, it is too early for anyone. But I had to leave, it was a smart move because my contract expired and no one had contacted me yet.”
The future remains unknown, but the doors remain open for Inter: “In Milan there is a lot of competition. President Erick Thohir has announced major investments, will undoubtedly bring in great players. It will be hard to earn a place at Inter. I have a two-year contract, who can say that a good end to the season won’t bring me back to Inter.”
