Ahead of tomorrow’s London derby between Chelsea and West Ham, José Mourinho held a press conference where he spoke about the match, but what stuck out was his statement regarding the future of Samuel Eto’o.

“Eto’o is a fantastic player with a fantastic career, and even if he’s reached a certain age, he isn’t in the same position as some of the other veterans here at Chelsea. He likes it very much here, he feels calm and happy here. He has had a career which allows him to choose his own future, where he can think about what he wants. He doesn’t need to win titles and he doesn’t need to earn more money.”

“I knew that he would sooner or later he would fit in well here, because he is a very talented player, a goalscorer and a good guy. Even if he doesn’t score 25 goals he gives a lot to the team, we are very happy with him but we won’t force him to stay. He had never played in the Premier League and he wanted to come here to Chelsea. I don’t know if he will stay here after this season, he could stay, he could go to Mallorca to keep the promise he made to his son, or if he wants to go back to Italy to finish his career with Inter” Mourinho concludes.
