Walter Samuel was interviewed by Inter Channel in the program Drive Inter and talked about many different topics. “Il Muro” started to talk about the elimination from the Coppa Italia:

“It hurts because it’s an honorable cups that gives you the possibility to play the Super Cup. Those are underrated trophies but it was a pity that we were eliminated because we really wanted to pass. Seeing how we have been performing this year it was the trophee we had the chance to win and now our target is to come back to Europa.”

How has the year been for you?

“It has been a year to forget. I played a lot with Stramacccioni but since my Achilles Tendon injury I’ve missed more than half a year. When I’m playing I feel well but the injuries have been bothering me. There is not a lot left on my career so I have to take care of my body better and maybe slow down a bit.”

How is the group this season?

“It hasn’t changed a lot. It’s a good group and the lads want to stay here since it’s a winning club. We have to be patient. Even if it’s a year of transition we always step on the field to win. Now we have to do better.”

The new president?

“It was a thing that we didn’t expect even though there were talks about it. Though what happens of the field hasn’t got anything to do with us.”‘

Has Mazzarri been good at keeping your thoughts away from what happens outside of the field?

“The group has never been thinking about what happens outside of the field.”

Your best memory from Moratti’s era as president?

“For me the best memory is the Champions League title, but also the scudetto won against Siena meant great joy because it came after a lot of suffering.”

What do you say about Thohir?

“I haven’t met him that much, he is trying to stay close to us and be nice to everyone. We will do Inter well.”

Was the coaching course fun?

“I had Castellazzi with me on the course and that made things funnier. After having finished it I’d like to take care of a youth team. It’s one thing to practice yourself, and one thing to be responsible for others. Even though I’m a quiet type there are many coaches who don’t talk a lot. I will try and one day we’ll see. I want to teach the youngsters of my experience. Psychology is very important, especially for young players.”

How does Mazzarri handle these things?

“He is very direct. He has always told me things to my face. Everyone wants to play but we respect his choices.”

Is it correct to say that Inter is the team that can improve the most by the teams who are in the race for Europe?

“We surely have many things to improve, especially the youngsters. But it is wrong to put pressure on them. We are hoping to be close to the Champions League towards the end. We need to focus on one game at the time.”

Is it a harder championship this season?

“We have a great championship here in Italy. The three best teams won’t stop and we need to pass HEllas and Fiorentina.”

Can you explain this negative moment for Inter?

“I think we are in a position where we are trying to reach fourth or fifth place. If we can get higher than that it’s only good. I’m not promicing anything but I’m asking you to stay patient because everything could change very quickly.”

What can Samuel give Inter?

“It’s four months left of the season and I will give it all I got. I will train well to be ready to give this team as much as possible.”

Describe your self with three words:

“Honesty, family and passion for my work.”
