In connection with the national team’s gathering Ishak Belfodil was interviewed by Algerian Competition and talked about his debut in Inter’s shirt, his goals in the league and with the national team and he also clarified the rumors that circulated about him in recent days: “It’s always a pleasure to return to Algeria, I’m proud to wear the national team’s shirt. I hope to give my contribution against Mali.”

How would you rate your debut for Inter in the league?

“I didn’t play in the first game, but against Catania, I played half an hour. Honestly, I’m happy with how I debuted. I did my best, too bad I didn’t score. The most encouraging was that we won by 3 -0. I want to continue to develop in order to earn my spot in the starting line-up.”

Inter have managed to win two games in a row. A good start after the bad season last year…

“That’s true, which is why this year we decided to start from scratch. We prepared well for the season’s beginning and that way we have managed to win two games in a row. But we must confirm that in the upcoming matches, starting against Juventus on Saturday the 14th.”

Are you already thinking about this great challenge?

” Not now, I focus on the match against Mali.”

In Italy, there was a lot of speculation in the press that you might move to Sassuolo. But in the end nothing happened.

” There was really nothing in that regard, so much so that even the club denied everything with an official statement. It’s true that Sassuolo’s management were interested in me, but if I’m going to be honest, they followed me before Inter came into the picture. Either way, nobody at Inter has ever come to me and told me that they had the intention of loaning me to another club. I’m happy at Inter and I’m especially happy about my debut in the league.”

During the recent press conference coach Halihodzic said that he expects much of you, that you will shortly be able to make a contribution to the Algerian attack.

“There’s no reason for me to reiterate on that, I know I have to live up to expectations. It’s normal that the coach expects a lot from me. It’s true that I come from a club like Inter, where there is great competition, but it’s up to me to show what I can do to get a starting spot. My goal is to get much playing time and earn my spot.”
