Gazzetta dello sport reports that Mateo Kovacic and Mauro Icardi are doubtful to take a place in the starting XI against Genoa. The young Argentinian went through parts of the practice session yesterday with the group and should at least be in the squad for the game. On the midfield Alvarez and Kovacic will compete into the end about who’ll take the place in the starting eleven as the left central midfielder. Kovacic is recovered from his injury and looked good the 30 minutes he played against Cittadella. Though Mazzarri needs to decide whether it’s worth to play with Kovacic from start, instead of subbing him on because he is missing match tempo. A choice that is more likely, also because Alvarez has done greatly the latest games.
