Scorer of Inter’s opening goal against Vicenza this afternoon, Fredy Guarin seemed very happy with how pre-season has been going so far when he spoke after the match.
“There’s still a long way to go till the start of the season but we’ve been training well,” the Colombian midfielder began. “You feel the fatigue on a physical level. I like the position I’m playing in, but I always try to understand what the team needs most. Improve my off-the-ball movement? It’s still early days, I hope to get to grips with exactly what the coach wants and put it into practice.
“Have we closed the gap with Juve? We’re not thinking about how the season will end. We just have to take things one game at a time and see what happens. What’s surprised me about Mazzarri? His mentality, the power he brings to every training session and the desire he conveys.”
“Am I sure I’ll stay at Inter? Yes, I said that when I first came here, there’s no doubt in my mind. Kovacic and I together make the midfield too attacking? We’ve got the physical attributes to play well anywhere on the pitch.”
