Juan Jesus spoke on TV after the match against Udinese. “We feel very sad today. We wanted a win but unfortunately it didn’t go well for us. On a personal level I’m happy that I scored but it didn’t change  the result. The game started off badly and when you’re a central defender and you concede a goal like that after less than a minute it makes everything more difficult. I messed up on that one.”

The Brazilian defender continued: “We tried everything but we’ve had all sorts happen to us this year. We lost lots of important players to injury. It’s a shame we had such a bad end to the campaign but at least it’s over now. We can focus on starting afresh.

“The coach’s future? That’s for the president to decide. I’ll always be grateful to Stramaccioni for everything he’s done for me. The fans are disappointed? I’m sure we’ll come back stronger. I thank them for not booing us, not even tonight. We really must thank them, they understand what we’ve been through. Samuel? An important player, someone I look up to.”
