Mourinho on his farewell to Inter: “I felt it was the right moment to leave”

In an interview with TVI, José Mourinho remembers his time with Inter, from the Italian Super Cup in 2008 to his remarkable relation to penalty shoot-outs:”At penalty shoot-outs I have always lost, except against Roma, I do not know why. Maybe because I do not shoot them, and don’t save them (laughs). We won that game by Julio Cesar saving a penalty from Juan, his childhood friend. Before the match said that if he faced Juan in a shootout, he would know which way to dive. Most important of all was that we won the match thanks to a penalty by Zanetti, a penalty that was the first in his career.”

Then Mourinho talked about the move to Real Madrid from Inter: “It was the third time Real Madrid tried before, it could not happen. I felt it was the right moment to leave. Without having coached Real Madrid my career would not have been complete.”

The Special One also revealed an anecdote, linked to league victory in 2010: “I remember one episode in particular. Julio Cesar came to me and said, ‘Mister, if you do not celebrate with us, you will not win another title…’ For a moment I hesitated, but said: ‘I have to leave.’
